Philip Jamison paints in West Chester, Pennsylvania and on the island of Vinalhaven, Maine. He graduated from and later taught at the Philadelphia College of Art, and the National Academy of Design, as well as being represented in the show, 200 Years of Watercolor Painting in America at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Jamison is the author of two books on painting and is an elected Academician of the National Academy of Design. His biography is listed in Who's Who In America and Who's Who in American Art.
